Amazon Q & AWS Generative AI Ecosystem (AIF-C01)

Amazon Q is a set of specialized, generative AI-powered assistants designed for enterprise work, software development, data analytics, and AWS operations. On the AIF-C01 exam, you must recognize where each Amazon Q variant fits and how security, access controls, and integration features function.


1. Amazon Q Business

  • Definition: A fully managed, generative AI conversational assistant that helps employees answer questions, summarize complex documents, analyze data, and generate content using internal enterprise knowledge.
  • Use Case Example: An employee asking "What is our company's maternity leave policy and how do I submit a claim?" Amazon Q Business scans internal documents and provides an accurate, cited answer.
  • Data Connectors: Pre-built native connectors to index enterprise repositories, including Amazon S3, Microsoft SharePoint, Salesforce, Confluence, Jira, Google Drive, and ServiceNow.
  • Plugins: Extensions that allow Amazon Q Business to execute actions in external third-party software on behalf of the user (e.g., submitting a Jira ticket, updating a Salesforce deal stage, or sending a ServiceNow request).

2. Security, Identity Controls, and Guardrails
